Beastie Boys Win $1.7 Million Lawsuit Against Monster Energy Drink


They fought for their right! The Beastie Boys won their lawsuit against Monster Energy Co., after the brand allegedly used their music in one of their promotional videos. $1.7 million is not too bad to walk away with!


Hip-hop band Beastie Boys have finally won their legal battle! The band ordered a lawsuit back in 2012 against Monster Energy Co. when they illegally used the Beastie Boys’ music on their website. However, the boys came out with the win and were awarded $1.7 million for Monster Energy Co.’s wrong-doing — get the details here!

Beastie Boys Win Lawsuit Against Monster Energy The band’s lawsuit against Monster Energy Co. was set off when the company included parts of the Beastie Boys’music — “Sabotage,” “So What’cha Want,” “Make Some Noise” and “Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun”– in a promotional video promoting an annual snowboarding competition, that they were sponsoring.

 Fans believed the Beastie Boys promoted and supported Monster, but really the company never had the permission to use their music in the company video in the first place. Tisk tisk!


The four-minute video ended with “RIP MCA” — a tribute to member, Adam Yauch, who went by “MCA” and died a day before the event from cancer.

”In 2012 when the lawsuit first began, the band argued, “The public was confused into believing that the plaintiffs sponsored, endorsed and are associated with defendant Monster in promoting defendant Monster’s productions and promotional events.
